Train Wreck

We've received a number of calls from people concerned that we might be effected by the train wreck near Louisville, Kentucky. Lady Julia asked me to post this so those concerned would know that we are safe and are more than 100 miles from the site of this accident.

Because her father was in the hospital twice last week and several other serious issues are requiring her attention, she has not been able to read or reply to her email nor post to her blog or group. I will try to help keep her friends informed of things via this blog.

Laughing Baby

I saw this video featured on Headline News this morning and thought you might find it amusing. I'm going to hang on to the link for those days when I'm not feeling very cheerful as I cannot imagine being able to resist laughing when I watched it :)

Do the Right Thing

"If you see someone in distress, do the right thing." Wesley Autrey is one person whose actions meet his words. On Tuesday Autrey was riding the Subway in NYC and saw a 19 year old young man fall on the tracks with a train heading his way. He pulled the young man off the tracks into a trough beside them and lay on top of him, shielding him with his body. At least two trains passed, missing the men by two inches.

I was so touched by this man's bravery and by his modesty. In a day when sports figures and tv/movie stars are seen as "heroes" it's wonderful to see a reminder of true heroism. During a press conference earlier today, Autrey thanked the men and women serving in Iraq and declared them the true heroes.

What a great story.
